Timber worktops are undoubtedly a thing of beauty. That being said, further embellishment in the form of a worktop hotrod set is an attractive and useful enhancement that will not disappoint.
Stainless steel hotrods are a stunning feature on any wooden worktop, and create a practical heat-proof location on which to rest hot pans and dishes, helping to protect your wooden work surface from scorch marks.
These hotrods require grooves to be routed into your worktop, which can be achieved using a round nose router cutter. Once positioned in the grooves, the hotrods will not move around, but can be removed for regular cleaning. You can also opt to position steel hotrods in a diamond or square formation – whichever style you prefer!
Whilst our timber tops are immensely durable, they are not entirely heat-resistant, so we thoroughly recommend installing our stylish and functional hotrods adjacent to hobs and range-style ovens for added convenience.
Our stainless steel hotrod set is priced at just £20, and includes one 300x12mm rod, two 200x12mm rods and two 100x12mm rods.

If you’re fitting worktops above an appliance such as refrigerators, washing machines or dishwashers, a worktop moisture barrier is highly recommended to protect your timber worktops from being exposed to high levels of moisture that might cause the timber to warp or rot over time.
Despite being known as moisture barriers, we also recommend using this protective layer to reflect excess heat from ovens, microwaves and other hot appliances, too.
The barrier is provided in 1M x 750mm x 3mm sections, and can easily be attached to a worktop using silicone adhesive. A length of special tape is also provided to seal the edges of the moisture barrier. This protective layer isn’t just suited to the underside of worktops – it can also protect kitchen cabinets from the heat given off by free-standing range cookers.
Moisture barriers should only be applied once the worktop has been fully treated with Rustins Danish Oil (or an alternative finish of your choice).
We have recently added sapelli worktops to our growing collection of high quality products. As with all our timber worktops, we buy sapelli worktops in bulk, which enables us to offer it at the most competitive prices on the market. However, as well as being extremely affordable, sapelli comprises a number of other appealing characteristics.
African sapelli timber has a rich chestnut hue that makes for a warm and welcoming worktop. What’s more, it is also extremely resilient thanks to its intricate internal grain structure. Each worktop is assembled from a series of 40mm wide staves, which are carefully finger-jointed together using high-pressure glue to ensure maximum strength, and then sanded to a smooth 150 grit finish. Unlike other worktops, all of our Grade A sapelli surfaces start off a pale pink colour before quickly darkening to the rich red shade you see here.
With a perfect blend of strength and beauty, our sustainably-sourced sapelli worktops are the ideal choice for any busy kitchen.
If you have any questions regarding sapelli or any other worktop in our collection, please don’t hesitate to telephone us on 01452 725145, or email .

Here at Kitchen Surplus, we offer a whole range of splashbacks to suit the needs (and kitchens) of even our most discerning customers. Whether you have a preference for glass or stainless steel, we have plenty to fit the bill, with products that protect your kitchen walls whilst looking wonderfully stylish.
Our fantastic glass splashbacks come in black, white, red or cappuccino. Higher quality than splashbacks sold by many high-street retailers, these are toughened to six times the strength of normal glass (which means that they meet the most demanding of industry standards). Our splashbacks are coloured using a firing process that ensures consistency and smoothness throughout the glass.
All glass splashbacks are manufactured from the highest grade of opti-white float glass, which measures 6mm in thickness.
Stainless Steel Splashbacks
Stainless steel splashbacks look fantastic in modern kitchens. Available in brushed and black finishes, these splashbacks come in an 8mm thickness with polished edging. With a backing that is constructed from moisture-resistant board (the industry standard kitchen splashback core material), these splashbacks are built to ensure longevity.
Matching stainless steel upstands and tiles are also available, allowing you to complete the look with sleek, coordinating kitchen accessories.
All of our splashbacks are delivered on a speedy and efficient service, at highly-competitive prices. If you are in a hurry, we offer next-day delivery for orders placed before 12 noon.
For more information on any of our superb splashbacks – or to place an order – please do not hesitate to contact our knowledgeable sales team on firstname.lastname@example.org, or by giving us a ring on 01452 725145 – we would love to hear from you!
